The caliper brake is a common type of pneumatic brake. Air pressure presses the friction pads in the caliper body against the rotating disc from both sides, and friction generates the braking torque. The torque is adjusted by changing the pressure, which makes tension easier to control on unwind stands. Its compact design allows it to fit into limited space on the machine.
It is used on unwind stands to apply braking torque to the roll and create web tension. When the air pressure is set by a proportional valve linked to a tension controller, braking torque can be reduced automatically as the roll diameter decreases. Slitting, printing, laminating and paper machines are typical examples.
Share the roll weight, maximum and minimum roll diameter, line speed, existing disc or shaft dimensions and the machine’s air supply. Dimensions and torque are agreed according to your application; send your request through our contact page.
