Overview

AYS Makina pneumatic brake systems provide controlled braking and precise torque adjustment in winding and unwinding applications. Operated by air pressure, they support balanced, stable running and contribute to the efficiency of your production processes.

A pneumatic brake is an air-actuated device that generates braking torque on the principle of pressure and friction. Compressed air acts through a diaphragm to press the friction pads against the disc, and the braking torque is adjusted by changing the air pressure. On machines that process web materials, it applies a braking torque to the roll on the unwind side, which creates tension in the material.

Applications

Pneumatic brakes are used on the unwind stands of slitting, printing, laminating, paper and plastic film machines. Keeping tension constant helps prevent problems such as stretching and slackness in the material. Connected through a proportional valve to a tension controller, the braking torque can be adjusted automatically as the roll diameter decreases.
