Overview
The web guide controller is a microprocessor-based unit designed for precise edge guiding and line guiding. As a roll is unwound and rewound, it corrects material drift caused by a badly wound roll or by the machine itself, helping to achieve an even, well-formed roll.
Correction can be made by shifting the roll sideways on the rewind or unwind section of the machine. Where this is not mechanically possible, the material is passed over two movable rollers, and changing the position of these rollers corrects the direction of the web. The system is simple to integrate and to use. Technical values, including dimensions, inputs and outputs, are listed in the table below.
Features
- Microprocessor-based edge and line guiding
- Easy operation and easy setup
- Plug-in terminal blocks for easy connection
- Analogue, digital and stepper motor outputs
- Can be adapted to stepper, servo, DC or AC motors, or to hydraulic or pneumatic actuators
- Works with a colour sensor, a fork sensor or an ultrasonic sensor
- Retains settings in memory during power loss
- Proximity or mechanical limit switches can be connected for limit stops
- LED display showing the position of the material
Applications
The web guide controller is used on slitting, flexographic and rotogravure printing, laminating, profile wrapping, paper, textile and plastics machinery. Combined with tension control, it gives more even winding; see our tension controller page.
